Chapter Three: The Journey Begins.
No celebration had ever been witnessed in Heaven quite like this.
Throughout the immeasurable Kingdom, the faithful hosts gathered before the
Throne. From horizons no eye could measure came angels of every order, their
garments shining with the glory of the One they served. Songs of praise rolled like
mighty oceans across Heaven until every mountain, every crystal river and every
living garden echoed with worship.
Daniel stood among his six closest companions.
Each looked towards the Throne with eager anticipation.
Whatever the Almighty had planned...
they longed to obey.
Michael, the great Archangel, stepped forward.
Even among the countless heavenly host, his presence commanded reverence. His
armour gleamed like burnished gold, yet reflected none of his own glory—only that of
the Almighty.
He lifted his voice.
"Children of Heaven."
Instantly, silence spread across the Kingdom.
"You have desired to understand mankind."
"You have believed their trials would never cause you to stumble."
"You have claimed you would do differently if you walked where they walk."
His eyes rested upon the seven.
"The Almighty has heard you."
Daniel felt excitement rising within him.
Tom smiled confidently.
Rachel clasped her hands together.
Whatever came next...
surely it would be wonderful.
Michael continued.
"You shall each experience the life of one human soul."
A quiet murmur spread among the younger spirits.
Not become human...
Experience one.
"You shall know their joys."
"Their fears."
"Their temptations."
"Their grief."
"Their victories."
"Their failures."
"You shall not merely observe."
"You shall understand."
The seven looked at one another.
None of them hesitated.
Daniel spoke first.
"I am ready."
"So am I," Bobby answered.
"Gladly," said Rachel.
One after another...
every one of them accepted.
The Almighty rose.
The light flowing from His Throne filled every part of Heaven.
"My beloved children..."
"My purpose is never to shame you."
"It is to prepare you."
The seven bowed low.
Then the Lord stretched forth His hand.
Immediately, seven brilliant streams of living light appeared before the Throne.
Within each stream...
faces slowly began to appear.
Seven ordinary people.
Living upon the Earth.
Daniel, Tim, Bobby, Rachel, Cathy, Sidney and Tom.
The spirit-beings looked at one another in surprise.
"They bear our names," whispered Cathy.
"They always have," Michael replied.
"Long before this day."
Tim frowned.
"Coincidence?"
Michael smiled gently.
"There are no coincidences before the Almighty."
Each stream revealed another life unfolding on Earth.
One was a wealthy businessman.
Another a respected journalist.
One had grown up in poverty.
Another had wandered far from the Christian faith of her childhood.
One chased mysteries among the stars.
Another had become an influential voice to millions online.
The last...
had become trapped inside a criminal world from which he no longer knew how to
escape.
Their lives could not have been more different.
Nor could their futures.
The Almighty spoke once more.
"You shall know them."
"You shall learn through them."
"When your preparation is complete..."
"...you shall understand My heart."
The seven bowed in joyful obedience.
They still did not realise...
how completely their confidence would be broken.
Far beneath the Earth...
another throne room stirred.
The palace of darkness seemed strangely alive.
Messengers hurried through black corridors.
Ancient spirits whispered among themselves.
Something had changed.
Satan knew it.
He stood before the mysterious black triangle.
Dark energy pulsed beneath its smooth surface.
Around it, three frog-eyed watchers remained stationed without moving, their pale
eyes fixed upon the artefact as though awaiting orders.
One demon hurried into the chamber.
"My lord..."
"They're coming."
Satan turned slowly.
"The seven?"
"Yes."
"They have accepted."
For several moments...
Satan said nothing.
Then...
he smiled.
"So..."
"The Almighty begins His preparation."
He looked once more at the black triangular stone.
"And so shall we."
One of the frog-eyed watchers cautiously stepped forward.
"Our work among mankind continues."
"They hunger for answers."
"They search the skies."
"They no longer ask who created them."
"They ask only what else is out there."
Satan's smile widened.
"Excellent."
"Keep feeding their curiosity."
"Whisper into the minds of dreamers."
"Appear to those who seek forbidden knowledge."
"Encourage stories."
"Encourage sightings."
"Encourage wonder."
"By the time our work is complete..."
"...the whole world will welcome us."
The demon bowed.
"They will believe we come from the stars."
"No."
Satan quietly corrected.
"They will want us to."
He slowly raised one hand towards the floating triangle.
"This shall become their sign."
"The symbol of a new beginning."
"They will call it first contact."
"They will celebrate."
"They will unite."
"They will believe mankind has finally discovered its creators."
He laughed quietly.
"When in truth..."
"...they will have embraced their oldest enemy."
The chamber echoed with cruel delight.
Legions of dark spirits continued flowing into the mysterious object, vanishing inside
as though preparing for a purpose known only to their master.
Back in Heaven...
The seven followed Michael away from the great assembly.
None noticed the solemn expression upon his face.
They were excited.
Hopeful.
Certain.
Tom grinned.
"When do we leave?"
Michael looked ahead.
"You already have."
The seven exchanged puzzled glances.
None of them understood what he meant.
But soon...
they would.
And nothing they experienced afterwards would ever be forgotten.
