In this week’s edition of Politics Today, we will be discussing the coming winter energy crisis to hit Europe as Putin turns off Europe’s gas supplies in retaliation for European leaders support for the Ukraine in its war against Russia.
Recently Russia has cut off its gas supplies to Latvia, Poland, Bulgaria, Finland, Netherlands, and Denmark for refusing to pay for the energy supplies in Russian Roubles in line with EU Sanctions against Russia.
Russia has also cut 20% of its gas supplies to Germany through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline as Russia President is weaponizing gas energy supplies. German is suffering the most as they face an unprecedented energy crisis. Streetlights are being to be turned off in Berlin, Hanover will turn off hot water in public buildings. Now Oktoberfest, Christmas markets and even breweries could be closed.
We discuss how Europe is heading for an extremely bleak winter and we will be asking is the cost to European civilisation a price too high a price to pay to rely on green alternative energy supplies?
